Custom Label Cost: What Drives the Price
Custom label cost depends on material, size, colors, finishing, quantity and lead time. Learn how each factor shapes the price and how to get an accurate quote fast.

Your custom label cost depends on six main factors: label type and material, size, number of colors, finishing, quantity and lead time. These factors work together, so two labels of the same size can vary in price several-fold. Below, we explain how each one affects your budget.
That is also why we do not publish one fixed price list. Instead, we price each request individually and send a quote within 24 hours on business days. Our examples use common products: woven labels, hang tags and custom stickers.
Material and Label Type: The Base of Custom Label Cost
Label type has the biggest impact on price. For example, we make woven labels on a loom from yarn, so the process differs completely from printing. A hang tag, by contrast, varies by paper weight and finishing. For stickers and product labels, the adhesive material matters most.
| Label type | Materials and options | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|
| Woven labels | Polyester yarn, damask, satin or taffeta weave | Weave density, colors, metallic thread, folding |
| Care labels | Japanese nylon taffeta (akmaz) or English satin | Tape width, one- or two-sided print, amount of text |
| Hang tags | 350gsm stock with matte lamination, or 700gsm board | Paper weight, foil, embossing, die cutting |
| Leather labels | Genuine leather, faux leather, jacron, PVC | Material, logo method, size |
| Stickers and product labels | Adhesive paper, vinyl, clear film | Material, cut shape, lamination |
| Hologram stickers | Standard, security (VOID) and numbered | Security level, numbering, custom design |
Still, material choice is not only about price. For example, akmaz taffeta resists heat, water and detergents, which makes it a good fit for everyday garments. English satin, in contrast, feels like silk: it is thinner and more flexible, so it stays comfortable in underwear. Similarly, a security hologram costs more than a standard one, but it shows tampering and protects better against counterfeits.
So the right question is not “which is cheaper” but “which suits my product”. A slightly pricier material often pays off, because the label keeps looking good for the whole life of the product.
Size and Shape
A bigger label uses more material, and that raises the price. However, the relationship is not always linear. For example, woven labels up to about 15×70 mm usually fall into the same price group. In other words, choosing between 15×50 and 15×70 mm often makes no difference to the price.
Shape matters too. We can cut rectangular or round labels with standard tools. A custom die-cut shape, however, often needs its own cutting die, which is a one-time setup cost. With stickers, the number of labels per sheet or roll also counts, as our sticker printing page explains.
Colors and Finishing
Woven labels come in two colors as standard. Each extra color makes the weaving program more complex and can raise the price slightly. Gold or silver metallic thread also adds cost, but it gives the label a bright, premium look. Therefore, keep only the colors your design really needs.
For printed labels, the key choice is CMYK or Pantone. Full-color CMYK printing suits photos and gradients. Pantone colors match a brand shade more precisely, but with some print methods each one needs its own ink and setup. Two-sided printing also affects price, especially on hang tags.
Finishing makes a label stand out, yet every operation adds a production step. For example, matte lamination, embossing, foil and spot varnish all raise the hang tag price, while fold type does the same for woven labels. As a result, finishing often separates a budget label from a premium one.
Quantity: How Run Size Shapes Custom Label Cost
Every order has two kinds of cost. First, fixed costs: artwork prep, machine setup, a cutting die or a printing plate. Second, variable costs: material, thread, ink and labor time. Fixed costs stay the same whatever the run size, so a larger run spreads them across more labels.
- At 1,000 pieces, a thousand labels share the fixed costs.
- At 5,000 pieces, five thousand labels share the same costs, so the setup share per label drops to one fifth.
- Material and labor grow with quantity, so the unit price levels off at some point.
For woven labels, the minimum order is 1,000 pieces, and the woven label price per piece drops noticeably above that level. Hologram stickers usually start at 1,000 to 5,000 pieces, depending on the type. For other products, the minimum depends on material and finishing, and we confirm it in your quote.
Setup Costs and Reorders
Setup can include artwork adaptation, the weaving program, a cutting die, a foil stamping plate and a master for custom holograms. Most of this work happens only on the first order. If your design stays the same, we do not need to repeat it on a reorder.
As a result, reorders often cost less than the first run. However, the saving depends on how large a share setup took in the original price. To speed up a repeat order, keep the approved artwork and a sample label. Even a small change, such as an updated size chart, can sometimes require new setup.
Lead Time and Rush Orders
Lead time affects your budget too. For woven labels, standard production takes about 10–15 business days after artwork approval. We make some products at partner factories in Türkiye, so we build shipping time into the plan from the start. That way, your quote shows a realistic date.
Rush orders are sometimes possible, but they narrow your options. For example, you may need to use in-stock material or a simpler finish. In some cases, urgency also raises the price. The most cost-effective approach, therefore, is to order a few weeks before a new collection or holiday sales.
Accurate Custom Label Cost: What We Need From You
To give you an accurate price, we need a few basic details. The more you share, the more precise the quote and the fewer surprises later.
- Label type and material, for example a woven label or a 350gsm laminated hang tag.
- Size in millimeters and shape.
- Quantity, ideally several options such as 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 pieces.
- Number of colors or Pantone codes.
- Finishing: lamination, foil, embossing, folding.
- Attachment: sew-in, hole and string, or adhesive.
- Your target date.
- Artwork or a logo file.
Our label artwork guidelines explain how to prepare the file. A print-ready file saves both time and extra design costs.

Five Ways to Lower Your Label Budget
- Choose a standard size, such as 20×60 or 25×70 mm for woven labels.
- Cut the number of colors, because a simple design costs less and reads better.
- Plan your garment kit as one order: woven labels, care labels and hang tags. This makes colors and timing easier to align.
- Order a full season or year of labels at once, since larger runs lower the unit price.
- Send a print-ready file, so you avoid paying for artwork fixes.

You can find every label type, with technical specs, in our product catalog. On each product page, we explain the materials, sizes and the factors behind custom label cost.
