Roll labels are a practical format for producers who want to save time on the packing line. We make self-adhesive paper and film labels for both hand and automatic application. We also match core size, outer diameter and unwind direction to your equipment.
Here, labels sit one after another on a siliconized liner wound onto a cardboard core. An even gap separates them, so you can apply them quickly and accurately. To compare formats, see our product labels overview.
Applicator-ready
We set core, outer diameter and unwind direction to your machine specs.
Easy by hand too
Labels peel easily, so small batches go on fast by hand.
Paper and film
For example, paper for dry goods, PP or PE film for wet ones.
Room for barcodes
We also reserve space for barcodes, dates and batch numbers.
Material choice depends on storage conditions and the packaging surface. For example, paper is cost-effective for dry boxes and bags. However, film is more reliable on chilled or greasy products. For squeeze bottles, we recommend flexible PE film, because it bends with the container. Freezers also need a special adhesive, which we confirm on request.
| Material | Properties | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Self-adhesive paper (matte, semi-gloss) | Cost-effective, vivid print | Dry food, boxes, jar lids |
| White PP film | Resists moisture and grease | Beverages, sauces, household chemicals |
| Clear PP film | No-label look | Glass bottles, cosmetics |
| PE film | Flexible, no wrinkles when squeezed | Shampoos, creams, squeeze bottles |
| Thermal paper | For on-demand printing | Barcode and weight labels |
To make labels fit your applicator or printer, we agree on three parameters in advance. Your equipment manual usually lists all three, and an old roll shows them as well.
The industry marks unwind direction with positions 1–8 from the FINAT chart. In positions 1–4, labels face out, while in 5–8 they face in. For example, position 1 feeds the top edge first and position 2 the bottom edge. The wrong choice makes the applicator place labels upside down or sideways.
An automatic applicator peels each label off the liner and places it in the same spot at speed. So label gap and die-cut accuracy matter most here. For hand application, however, convenience comes first: labels should peel easily, and the roll should fit your dispenser.
Roll label specifications
Rolls pay off most at high daily packing volumes. For example, food and drink makers order food labels for jars and bottles, while beauty brands choose water-resistant cosmetic labels. Warehouses and retailers also order barcode labels on rolls. For the full food-sector kit, see food and beverage labels.
Step 1: Share the specs
First, send label size, quantity, material, core size and your equipment model.
Step 2: Advice and quote
Then we confirm unwind direction and material and quote within 24 hours on business days.
Step 3: Proof approval
Next, we send the final proof with die line and winding diagram.
Step 4: Print and wind
Finally, we print, die-cut and wind your labels to the agreed specs.

We price roll labels by run size, material and specs. The general rule: the larger the run, the lower the price per label. Across the industry, long runs usually go to flexographic presses, while short runs suit digital printing. We confirm the method and lead time in your quote. Main factors:
Send vector artwork (AI, PDF, EPS or SVG) with the die line on a separate layer. Add 2 mm of bleed and keep text at least 2 mm inside the cut line. If you print dates and batch numbers on the line, leave a blank, unvarnished area. Our label artwork guidelines include a full checklist.
