How we make metallic woven labels
Metallic yarn usually starts as a thin polyester film. Manufacturers coat it with a layer of aluminum and then slit it into narrow strips. For a gold shade, they add a tinted lacquer. As a result, the yarn shines brightly yet stays light and flexible. The best-known name for this kind of yarn is Lurex.
During weaving, the loom runs metallic yarn together with standard polyester threads. Part of the logo, or all of it, comes out shiny, while the rest stays in regular colors. Then we laser-cut the labels, fold them if needed and pack them.

Metallic thread is thicker and slightly stiffer than polyester yarn. Therefore, it renders very fine detail less precisely. We recommend these rules:
- Use a large, simple font for metallic text, because thin serifs can disappear.
- Plan metallic lines thicker than standard ones.
- Weave small text, such as sizes or fiber content, in standard yarn.
- The larger the metallic area, the stiffer the label.

Do metallic labels feel scratchy?
