Custom Food Labels

Food labels tell shoppers what a product is, what is in it and when to use it, while building your brand on the shelf. Etiket.az has made labels since 2014, and we print food labels on stock that resists moisture, grease and cold. We also plan space for ingredients, barcode and date.

Food labels belong to our custom product labels range and form the core of our food and beverage labels kit. For automatic lines, we supply them as roll labels. For hand application, however, sheets are easier.

Moisture and grease resistant

Film and laminated paper handle sauces, oil and condensation.

Adhesives for the cold

We match the adhesive to chilled and frozen products.

Date field

We leave an unvarnished area so you can add dates later.

Azerbaijani-language text

Mandatory Azerbaijani text, plus Russian or English.

What a food label must carry

Codex Alimentarius standards set the international baseline for prepackaged food labeling. In Azerbaijan, the Food Safety Agency (AQTA) oversees food safety. The list varies by product, but food labels typically carry:

  • Product name and type
  • Ingredients by descending weight, plus allergens
  • Net weight or volume
  • Production and best-before or use-by dates
  • Storage conditions and directions for use
  • Manufacturer name, address and country of origin
  • Lot number and an EAN-13 barcode for retail

For sale in Azerbaijan, this information must appear in Azerbaijani, and you can add Russian or English alongside it. We do not give legal advice. However, we reserve space for every field. Exporters can also check the EU food information rules, and our guide to food label requirements has the details.

Materials that resist moisture, grease and cold

The right stock depends on the container surface, storage temperature and shelf life. For example, paper is fine for a dry carton, but a chilled sauce needs film. The table below helps you choose:

Stock options for food labels
StockBest forBenefit
Semi-gloss paperCartons, dry goodsCost-effective, vivid color
Laminated paperBakery, greasy packagingResists grease and moisture
White and clear polypropyleneSauces, dairy, water, drinksResists water, oil and condensation
Textured wine paperWine and premium spiritsUpscale look, even when damp

For chilled and frozen products, the adhesive matters even more than the face stock, because standard adhesive can lose its grip in the freezer. So tell us the storage temperature, and we will suggest a suitable adhesive.

Labels for jars, bottles, boxes and trays

A jam jar usually carries a front label plus a round lid label or a tamper strip. Water bottle labels, by contrast, wrap the whole container, so we print them on moisture-resistant film. For wine, textured paper with gold foil works better.

  • Front label: brand and product name
  • Back label: ingredients, nutrition, manufacturer
  • Neck and lid labels
  • Weight labels: direct thermal for scales

Shapes, finishes and window labels

We die-cut labels round, oval or to the contour of your container. Clear film creates a no-label look on glass jars, ideal for honey and jam. A window label shows the product itself. For premium lines, we add foil, embossing or matte lamination.

Food labels on rolls or sheets?

Automatic applicators only run rolls. In that case, we set the core size, outer diameter and winding direction to match your machine. Small producers, on the other hand, often label by hand, so sheets suit them better. Sheets also let you print dates on an office printer.

How to order food labels in 4 steps

What affects the price of food labels

We quote every order individually, because price depends on several factors. Lead time also depends on quantity and finishing, so the exact date is in your quote. The main cost drivers are:

  • Quantity: the unit price drops as volume grows.
  • Stock and adhesive: film and freezer adhesive cost more than paper.
  • Shape and size: a custom shape may need its own cutting die.
  • Finishing: foil, embossing and lamination add steps.
  • Designs: each flavor or size needs its own prep.

Food labels FAQ

What must a food label include?
A food label typically lists the product name, ingredients and allergens, net quantity, production and expiry dates, storage conditions, manufacturer and country of origin. The exact list depends on the product, so check it against current AQTA requirements. We reserve space for every field in your artwork.
Do you offer labels for chilled or frozen products?
Yes. For chilled and frozen goods, we use moisture-resistant film and an adhesive that holds at low temperatures. Just tell us the storage temperature and the container material, since fridge and freezer need different adhesives. We also recommend labeling before chilling.
Can we add expiry dates later?
Yes. We leave a blank date field and keep it free of varnish so ink adheres well. You can then add the date with a stamp, marker, thermal transfer coder or label printer. Tell us your method, and we will choose the stock to match.

Ordering and formats

Can one order cover several flavors?
Yes, we can print several designs of the same size in one order. However, each design needs its own proof check and prep, so it affects the price. Send your list of flavors and quantities, and we will suggest a cost-effective split.
Do you supply rolls for automatic applicators?
Yes, we wind labels on rolls to suit your applicator. Give us the core diameter, maximum outer roll diameter and winding direction. If you lack these details, send the machine model, and we will confirm them together. Our roll labels page has more.
